Toddler Friendly Christmas Markets

A Christmas market is a pleasure of the season with locally produced food, crafts and art. But, sometimes the lure of the famous themed markets in larger cities, such as those in London’s Hyde Park, Birmingham and Edinburgh can belie the experience with a little one. Overwhelming crowds can prove quite a challenge for families looking for a calmer experience of Christmas.

If you are tempted by a larger City-based market with little a one, then we recommend stowing them safely into a LittleLife Child Back Carrier. From this perspective they can see the market from an adult height and will be safe from the hustle and bustle of the crowded street.

For families seeking a lower key experience, we have put together some options in the smaller market towns across the UK that are still open and thriving this weekend.

Keep little one safe to explore while close by with a Toddler Backpack with Rein. You will be able to investigate the sights and sounds of the seasonal market, with your little one close by and within your grasp.

Toddler Friendly Christmas Markets

Here’s our selection to visit this festive season:

Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire

Stratford Upon Avon is an internationally renowned British town, with its association as the birthplace of William Shakespeare. However, the town itself still manages to welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors while still feeling small and inclusive. The Victorian Christmas market strikes a perfect balance of shopping, food and traditional entertainment with around 300 stalls to explore.

Winchester Cathedral

Winchester Cathedral’s Inner Close is home to a wonderful variety of traditional stalls combining contemporary culinary delights, such as hog roast and halloumi rolls, or mac n’ cheese. The twinkling lights and wooden chalets will delight little ones and get everyone into the Christmas spirit. At services until 21st December, the cathedral choir create an atmospheric backdrop to the occasion.

Holkham Hall, North Norfolk

Throughout the year this beautiful country estate delivers a wonderful experience to its visitors and Christmas is no exception. With more than 60 stalls of craft and the very best of Norfolk’s artisan food and drink on offer, this gorgeous Stately home is well worth a visit until 10th December.

Rochester Castle Gardens, Kent

If you’re looking for spectacular scenery, head over to Rochester’s Christmas Market within the Castle Gardens. With the backdrop of the castle walls, entertainment is high on the agenda with live performances and a fun fair, coupled with local crafts and a Bavarian food village, there is something for the whole family to enjoy.

Bideford, Devon

The BIG Sheep Christmas Market is a feast for foodies looking for treats this Christmas season. Boasting the largest indoor Christmas Farmers Market in the South West it specialises in fresh produce with delicacies to tempt every palate. Browse the craft stalls for handmade gifts then head to the indoor play for little ones to explore.

Whichever type of market you choose to explore as a family this season, our LittleLife Child Carriers and Toddler Reins will keep your little ones safe and sound while you fully embrace everything the market has to offer.
